  • 1 Step

About

This introductory course explores the foundational principles of tort law, with a primary focus on negligence—the most common basis for civil liability. Students will examine how the legal system determines responsibility for harm, the elements required to establish fault, and the types of damages awarded to compensate injured parties. Key topics include duty of care, breach, causation, and damages, as well as defenses to liability such as comparative negligence and assumption of risk. The course also covers the broader purposes of tort law, including deterrence, compensation, and justice. Through real and hypothetical cases, students will develop the analytical skills needed to evaluate tort claims and apply legal standards in both personal and professional contexts. 🎓 Certificate Request Instructions – The Urban Law School To receive your official certificate of completion: 1.
