This course explores the foundational principles of American constitutional law with a focus on the balance between individual rights and governmental authority. Students will examine how the U.S. Constitution structures government power and protects civil liberties through landmark Supreme Court decisions and key constitutional doctrines. Topics include the separation of powers, federalism, the powers of Congress and the President, and the Bill of Rights—especially the First, Fourth, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments. Special attention is given to how courts interpret constitutional provisions and how these interpretations affect citizens' rights and government limits. Learning Outcomes: By the end of the course, students will be able to: Understand the structure and function of the U.S. Constitution. Analyze the dynamic between government authority and individual freedoms. Interpret major constitutional doctrines through key Supreme Court rulings.
